History: March 2014 - March 2018: Two chess companies, Acor Chess Academy & Alton Academy 4 Chess, teamed up to start the West Tampa Rated Chess Tournaments. Our first tournament had about 16 players by the end we averaged 50+ players. Together we ran 45 rated tournaments. May 2018 - Present: Alton Academy 4 Chess formed Tampa Bay Rated Chess Tournaments. Our first tournament had 81 players. After our first independent year of tournaments when ended in May 2019 with our School Year-End Championship with 116 players. At our October 2019 tournament we had 163 players smashing our previous record.

USCF Rated Tournaments are official tournaments recognized by the United States Chess Federation and players competition is based on chess skill level not age or grade. All players must be members of the USCF organization. Membership is a once a year purchase. For students under age 13 the membership is $17.00 for studends 13-18 membership is $22.00.
