Our chess company have been running official US Chess Federation rated tournaments for the past 7 years.  Over 675 players have attended one of our tournaments...

​4 Rounds:           No Elimination - Each student plays 4 full games
Game 30/d0:       Each player has 30 minutes to play their game​

         *** Hand Sanitizer will be used at the start of each round!

3 Divisions:           Beginners Division ........... U350 ..... 1st - 4th Grade Only
                                 Intermediate Division ...... U600 ..... 1st - 12th grade
                                          Advance Division ............... U1200 .... 1st - 12th grade

Awards:                        Each Division will have 1st and 2nd place trophy
                                 Trophy for Best Player U700
                                 Trophy for Best Player in First Tournament
                               Other players will receive a participation medal

Alton Academy 4 Chess run official United States Chess Federation rated tournaments.  Every player must have a current US Chess membership.  For all students under age 18 the membership is $20.00.  The US Chess membership will let you play in any tournament in the country for a whole year.  To purchase or renew your membership click the link below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:         
Masks are optional.  All coaches have received the Covid VACCINE !!!

1).  Parents - This will be a drop off event for your student
Sorry, but our home does not have extra room for parents & siblings.  If this is your first time having an event with us you can stay for the 1st hour to see all that is going on and to feel more comfortable leaving your child with us.  We are parents first and we want all parents to feel comfortable with us!!!

2).  We will provide lunch to all players
To make the tournament flow easier for us and the players we are going to have a pizza lunch from Papa Johns, salad, and drinks.  We are going to play 2 rounds then everyone will break for lunch and a chess lesson before the next round.

3).  All players need to wear athletic shoes
After a player finishes their game they must go outside.  We need to provide a quite tournament room for the remaining playing students.  We have a shaded deck area with a ceiling fan for students who don't want to play.  We have a fenced in yard, playset, soccer goals, kickball, and a tire swing.  At all times, there will be outside supervision.  See pictures below.

4).  28 Players Max 
Our large school tournaments (Pre-Covid) had 120-170 players, so register fast for this tournament.
 When we fill up we will close the tournament!  Last 3 tournaments we have closed early.

5).  Need to Come Late or Leave Early?
If you know you will be late to the tournament (arriving around 11:30-11:45), but you want your student to participate you can receive a 1st round bye.  Your child will not play their 1st game, but will receive 1/2 point for that round, then your child would play the next 3 games.   If you know you need to leave early (leaving around 3:00), you can request a 4th round bye.  Your child would play 3 games and miss the last game, but receive 1/2 point score for that last game.  You can place your BYE request on the registration form.
